Elections

We are probably best known for our media analysis and monitoring during elections. An important benchmark for us was the year 1999 when we were approached for the first time by the OSCE's Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) to participate in their international election observation missions.

To date, MEMO 98 has taken part in more than 150 election and media related projects in some 50 countries (in particular in the former Soviet Union and the Balkan countries, but also in Africa, Asia, South America and recently Middle East). More specifically, we have worked in the following countries: Afghanistan, Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Croatia, Egypt, Finland, Georgia, Greece, Guyana, Hungary, Iceland, Iraq, Italy, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Lithuania, Libya, Macedonia, Madagascar, Maldives, Mexico, Moldova, Mongolia, Montenegro, Myanmar, Nigeria, Palestine, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russian Federation, Rwanda, Serbia, Somalia, Tajikistan, Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, Ukraine, Uzbekistan and Yemen.

These missions and projects have been conducted in the framework of international organizations, including OSCE/ODIHR, European Union, United Nations, Pro Media, International Foundation for Election Systems (IFES), International Media Support (IMS), and National Democratic Institute (NDI). The most significant international projects carried out by MEMO 98 include those conducted in the former Yugoslavia (2000), Belarus (2001, 2004, 2007 and 2008), Ukraine (2004, 2015-2016), Russia (2005-11, 2015), Azerbaijan (2008, 2013-2015), Myanmar (2010-11 and 2015-16), Serbia (2012-2014) and Georgia (2013-2015).
