Our expert participated in a debate forum organized by Democracy Reporting International in cooperation with the Mercator Centre Berlin on 28 November 2017. The forum brought together 25 academic experts such as Ivan Krastev, Ilke Toygür, Richard Youngs and Takis Pappas as well as diplomats and civil society representatives from ten European countries to discuss the transformation of Europe’s democracies, populism, the role of social media and other topics.
The MEMO expert chaired a working group which focused on the role of social media in democratic processes, including during elections. A short interview for the DRI’ website on whether the social media is a threat to democracy can be found here.
